Portland City Council voted 5-0 to appoint Steven Straus to the board of the Portland Development Commission (PDC). Introduced to Council by Mayor Adams, Mr. Straus brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sustainability industry to the PDC board.
Since graduating from Berkley, Straus has been passionate about environmental issues and design. As President of Glumac, a building services (MEP) engineering firm, Straus leads a firm where all Principals and Associate Principals are LEED Accredited Professionals and are focused on and making a real impact on conserving our natural resources, for projects big and small.
Delivering enthusiastic testimony in support of the appointment, Charles Wilhoite, (PDC Commission Chairman) and John Mohlis (PDC Commissioner), cited Straus' ability to assist with the Mayor's call for the PDC to pursue the most sustainable economic development agenda in the country. After hearing this testimony and meeting with Straus individually, all members of Council voted in favor of the appointment.
Straus' term began the moment he took the oath of office with Assistant Council Clerk, Sue Parsons, and ends on April 21st, 2012.
